    Prop setup for 225 yamaha

I have a 02 zx225 and I think it needs a new prop. but i need some help on getting the right one. It came with a 25-m on it and will run about 69mph at 5900rpm but I have 1/4 petal left. If I max it out the rpm is too high..I think its like 63-6400rpm. This makes me think I need a new prop, now I really dont know too much but does a 29 sound like too much pitch?

One more question, what is the diff. in a 25m and a 25t ?
I would be thankfull for some help..

Re: Prop setup for 225 yamaha (Dan I)

I run a 27P-T1 on my 225 and get around 5550-5650 rpm. I also have a 25P-T1 as a spare but it'll turn over 6000 if i let it. I may get it reworked sometime to drop the rpms down but i'm happy with my setup.... for now.

    Current: 2006 ~ 20i ~ 250 HPDI ~ T1-25p
    Previous: 2005 ~ ZX 225 ~ 250 HPDI Phase III - TXP 26p

I have an 01 ZX225 and run a 27-T1 VMAX series prop. Turn 5900 RPMs at WOT. Fully loaded and 2 people I run 69-71 depending on the time of year. Only went over 6000 RPMs once when I hit a pontoon boat's wake that I didn't see...left the air completely...

I always thought the m's should not be run on the 225's and bigger. It has a thinner blade. Easier to throw a blade. The T's are thicker and hold up better to the bigger horsepower welcome to BBC

Re: Prop setup for 225 yamaha (Skeeter ZX-190)

Sounds like I should try a 27...When I got the boat from "plapps " that 25m is what they put on it, probably just what ever they had laying around. So the M is thinner than the T? Is that the diffrence?

Re: Prop setup for 225 yamaha (Dan I)

I have a 2000 model ZX202 with a 2000 225 V-Max and I run a worked 27M. In these cooler temps its turning 5800 rpms @ 72. In the summer it drops to about 5600 and runs right at 70. Both speeds are loaded. Best speed I have ever seen out of it was a light load and 73.3.
I inquired about changing props to Mark Croxton before I had it worked and he told me to stay with the 27M...works good on my boat. Not sure if there is any difference between 2000 and 2002 225 V-Max.

    Hope this helps.

    Try a 26 TXP.

Re: Prop setup for 225 yamaha (Dan I)

The “M” is not only thinner but also smaller in outside diameter. The “T” was designed for the hpdi gearcase but some guys use it on ox66. The “M” is a good prop but sooner or later it will throw a blade especially on heavy boats. Had 4 Ms before on my 02 zx225 and now run a 26TXP @ 5700, 70gps TX load and 73 light.
