    ZX180 vs SX180

Other than the increased speed/horsepower, can you guys give me the advantages of a ZX boat over an SX. There seems to be quite a price differential between the two, and was wonder what if anything justifies it? I own an SX now and have recently found a nice ZX180 I'm considering going to test drive.

Completely different hulls. ZX is supposed to be their 'tournament hull' hull what ever that means. I'm sure there's other diffs

I would have to say the horse power. Hull might be different but other than that it's the same boat as for as layout. I think the console will have a different style.

Thats kind of my point, other than it being cosmetically different, is their really a difference, is the fiberglass makup of the hull stronger, faster, drier, better riding or different in any way. I've read alot of people say on here the SX models are really good boats for the price. I'm not sure I see the price justification of the ZX right now, it just looks different (or better in others opinion) and has better sonar units.

also depends on what year ZX180 you're talking about? Older ZX180's had jackplates and Z stringer, new models don't... In my opinion, you get alot more boat for your $$ with the ZX series...I used to have a 2000 ZX180, that thing was a slingshot off the line.

Its a 2008 ZX, how do you mean you get more boat for your money, also what are Z stringers?

The console and bow panel on the ZX allow you to mount a larger sonar, on the SX you are limited to the smaller units. ZX also gives you 2 storage compartments up front where the SX only gives you one. The ZX has a modular console(bolted on) SX has a molded in console. These are differences I can see by comparing pics in the catalog.

I mounted a plate and have a Lowrance 520 on a gimble mount. Put a 27 on a ram mount. The biggest differences between a SX and a ZX are the livewells (ZX's are two seperate, SX have a divider). And the fact that a jackplate cannot be added to a SX without voiding the warranty. I've also added an oxygenator to my livewells. It is a 2007 SX 180 with a 115 4-stroke and will run mid to high 40's.

    Here we go again.... LOL

I think the main difference between the two is that the ZX series is the "tournament" version and has many of the upgrades that is associated with that.

    Re: ZX180 vs SX180 (Culln5)

I looked at the ZX180 the other week and i could have swore that it had the one livewell with a divider. I know the 190's and up have seperate ones. My SX190 also has seperate livewells. I guess the main thing is you would be upgrading to a more HP.

On a different note, i know people don't like to see the jp issue come up over and over cause it's beating a dead horse. I like to mention it cause some dealers will tell you anything to get a sale or just don't know as this was my experience. I would have like to known the truth when i bought my boat. I like to let someone know so they can make the right decision when spending that much money.

Re: ZX180 vs SX180 (waco oso)

I have an SX 190 and I know the ZX 190 has a bit more deck space up front because of the way the boat is built. I have looked at the SX 180 and also ZX 180 and I know I could not justify the price difference. I don't think there will be much of a performance difference being a 17'8" boat. If I were you, I'd step up to a
SX 190 to give you more boat. The new SX 190 costs about the same as a
    ZX 180.

yowells never carries a ZX180, but they always have plenty of SX180's and 190's maybe theres a reason for this.
