How do yall run yall livewells without filling the boat with water? Do yall just keep it on recirculate?

Either put the fill pumps on Auto, or I actually fill the livewells, then turn the fill pumps off and the recirc on, ON, not auto and let them run all the time. Haven't weighed in a dead fish in 4 years.![]()
Depends on the conditions. Always start by filling them and using recirculate. If it's dead of summer and hot, I'll run the pumps nearly non-stop and pump in new water every hour or so. During the rest of the time (cooler weather), I just fill em up and run the recirculator about every 5 minutes or so. In the two years of tournament fishing, never lost a fish.![]()
If you put your fill pumps on auto, how do you keep water from getting in the bilge area?
Not sure how the newer ones are but I have separate switches for fill and recirc...one switch pumps the water in...the other recircs. I never use the auto option on my fill pump.
IF you leave it on auto fill, I dont understand how someone could possibly keep water from overflowing into the bilge area. So, it appears that my only option is to manually fill to the level I desire and then use recirculate. Is that right?

Exactly what I do...fill it up, then use recirculate. And like I said, it hot temps or longer tournaments, I'll pump out (or let run out while running) some water and put some new in from time to time.
The livewells have a over flow. If you forget to turn off the pumps the water will over flow and run out the drain to outside the boat. Best is to turn on fill livewell to max depth with out running out. Add livewell treatment and then turn on the recirculate. Add ice if water temps are hot.![]()
I think that is where my problem is. Maybe my drain to outside of boat is clogged, because all water goes into my bilge area... Which exit hole is the drain hole?
I think you have the flow right system. Check out their web site it has great diagrams of how each system works. It sounds like your valve is not opening or you are pluged up someplace.
Might want to check the overflows. I know my boat came with 2 plugs for plugging the overflow pipes if you are trailering. I have ran mine on fill alot of times and never had any overflow into the bilge other than what sloshed around while running.

+1same here
You should have two big hoses coming out of the top of the livewells. One for the right and one for the left side. If you look in the bilge area the hoses come straight out of the top of the back of the livewells and the hoses go straight down to the back of the bilge and tie into the thru hull fittings. The overflow hoses are way bigger than the fill hoses. I have a 06 zx250 and I fish every Thursday night in a tournament during the summer and I leave my fill pumps on continuously and I have never got water in my bilge. Also my pumps have been changed from 500 gph to 700 gph pumps. Make sure someone has not taken the overflow hoses off and make sure the screens are not stopped up. While you got the boat in the yard fill up the livewells with water and look in the bilge and see where the water is coming from.
