Got a 27p txp. Lots of lift compaired to previous props. Fixin to send to mark to get it tweaked.

Will a Turbo TXP fit directly on a Yamaha engine or do you need to get a special hub kit? I am considering a Turbo TXP 25 for my Skeeter/ 175 Yamaha, but I want something I can bolt right to the stock Yamaha hub.

If someone doesn't like their 26TXP can I try it?

With the TXP, you will definately will need to raise the engine they like to run high. The bow lift is significantly better than the t's. My top end increased by 3 mph going from the 27 t1 to the 26 txp... When I initally put it on at the same height the mph was the same, but as I raised the engine the mph went up....

Yamaha and merc small shaft have 15 splines. They interchange. May need different thrust washers. Sp

    Re: turbo props (stiverp)

I bought a 25 TXP for my 175 Yamaha as well, but I am having a hard time hitting a higher rpm than 5300. I recently lowered my jackplate just a tad in the garage and am going to try it out this weekend.
I am wondering if a 24pitch txp would have done better for me?
I know it is not my motor because I ran a no name prop of my younger brothers, and I hit 5800 rpm like right now.
I may have had the prop too high before not sure.

Worst case scenerio I can have Mark tweak it to a 24 possibly.

    Re: turbo props (mnbassman)

mnbassman, last spring I purchased a used but in new shape 24P TXP for my HPDI 175. I believe I was 2 1/4" below the pad and topped out around 66.5mph 5800rpms. Compared to my 25M it was faster out of the hole, mid range the boat came alive but not quite the high end of my 25M. Also experienced better handling and less steering torque. The prop was only on my boat a few weeks before I traded it for a 4 blade which was a huge mistake. I'm still wondering what the prop could of done if I raised my JP to 1 3/4" below the pad.

What speed are you seeing at 5300?

    Re: turbo props (Phippy)

    Shoot,
I feel like I should have gone with a 24 now for sure!
I love the prop, but I just can't seem to get the rpm's with the 25.
5300 rpm I am seeing around 62 gps. I am wondering though if I had it set just a tad too high though. I cranked her back down roughly 1/4 to half a inch and hope to see some type of change. The hole shot is good I just want more rpms and higher speed.
    Thanks for the insight.

    Re: turbo props (mnbassman)

Jonathan, I was turning a 27M at 5900 (66.3gps) this past weekend, FULLY loaded, 1 person in the boat. Keep in mind, I have 2.0 gears vs. your 1.86 gears.

I think you need to raise your motor! How's your water pressure? I am at 14psi.

    Re: turbo props (87gtNOS)

with the turbo props you always have to drop down a size... Its a heavier thicker prop.
