    Is it Me

Hi Guy's- New to board by the way. lots of great info on here. I have a problem. Owned a SS90, 6 in Jack. 90 Yamaha. Had the cavitation plate slightly higher than pad. Ran great.
Built a house and sold it (went over the bid).About a month ago bought a 97' ZX185c. From reading all the post about motor height it seems to be about 2 1/2 below pad (Prop Shaft). It has a 25 Tempest on it. My problem is it porpoises. Trimmed all the way down until about 3800rpm. I remember I used to trim my ss90 up then slow down for to just cruise and had no problem. The 185 bucks like a national finals saddle bronc. Turns are a nightmare. Do I need to lower my motor to run slower or is the bigger boat just a different animal and I need more seat time. Any suggestions would be appreciated...

i have a 99 185c and i dont think theres much diff in the hull, tho i could be wrong. I think its just seat time till you find what it needs, mine has never porpoised, gets up on plane like a rocket, just the 25M, and its not 2 1/2 below pad tho. more like 3 1/2 but still playing with it... it could be the tempest that i wouldnt know, there will be guys along shortly that will know all about that..

Welcome to the boards, youll find that if you have a thick skin and a twisted sense of humor, youll love it hear, cant tell you how much these boards have helped me. Just a bunch of great ppl, and the ppl who sponsor it are great... youll see...

    welcome...

Welcome to BBC, Myine porpoise bad when I'm too high, it's even worse when the gas tanks are full, so weight distribution is important. You can trim down faster to help prevent it also.

My zx225 is very sensitive to trim running at speeds slower than 35mph. It loves to have the bow stuffed down as far as possible. Full negative trim. Just had my prop balanced by Mark and seems to have improved my slow speed running quite a bit. I'm sure I will wreck that by raising the motor height today as running 35 is not how I have my boat set-up to run.

Speedometer doesn't work so I don't know how fast I'm going I just know that it stops around 3400,3800rpm . I do have the trim all the way down that is what confuses me. Trimming down should stop the porpoising but has no effect on it at all.

Same here... full tanks make it worse but trim down all the way when slowing or just run faster

If trimming down the whole way isn't fixing you problem then you prob need to lower the motor some. Should fix the problem if it doesn't then you might have a prop problem.

God grant that i may fish until my dying day and when it comes to my last cast i then most humbly pray that when in the lord safe landing net i\'m peacefully asleep that i be judged as one good enough to keep.
