I know RingFree Works. I'll stick with what Yamaha recommends. Sometimes paying extra is worth the peace-of-mind assurance.

Re: ring free VS. quickclean (Doug Vahrenberg)

There are numerous additives which are used to maintain and/or clean fouled multi-port injectors, carburetors, remove deposits from intake valves and ports and improve detergent properties - many of these are based on IVD tests and also port valve fuel injection tests. Some do well, some do not. Succinimides are designed for for port fuel injectors and carbs, but not IVD. So it is critical to understand the specific egine design, application and specifications in order to insure the right detergent or dispersant is used.

Ring-free for Yamaha is the best there is. The particular component in this product is more expensive than the others and performs better. It is specificalyl designed for Yamaha outboards - I would stick with it.

I support Yamaha products, they hold the warranty on my motor so I don't mind buying their products to help keep them financialy stable should I need their help.
