    Options for GPS Puck Mount

Anyone have any creative options for mounting the GPS Puck on a ZX250 other than drilling into the top cap. I know there is a Ram Mount plate that the puck can mount behind the unit but I have heard that reception is sketchy doing it this way. Any other options that someone has used? Unit is a X-27C. Thanks.

Re: Options for GPS Puck Mount (JRE)

Some guys have mounted theirs up under the gunwale in the rod box and say they work just fine.

You are right about the RAM adapter plate, I had one on my 332 when I first installed it and didnt work. Actually, I ended up sticking it on with a blob of silicone. I stuck it not far from the clamshell that I ran all the other wires out of.

I have put them on boats I was running before with velcro strips. It worked great and didn't drill any holes in the boat. It never came off even at 70+ MPH.

Or you can use some 3M double sided tape (heavy duty). I did that when i moved mine to the bow and a year later, it's still there. You could always pull it up if you want to move it. Of course you have to reroute the wires.

Thanks for the ideas. I think I like the double sided tape idea so far.

JRE, where did you get the RAM mount and the GPS antenae setup? I like that option as well. I'm not sure about mounting under rod locker. that might be a little to far from the ducer.

I got the main RAM mount and the RAM antenna mount from Cabelas , and I got the antenna spat from 3 Rivers Marine.
