    ZX200 speed question??

I have a '08' ZX200 with the 200 series 1 motor. Not sure what prop but it came stock with the motor. Motor maybe has 7 hours. WOT psi is 24-25. Rpms at 5900. The gas tanks 3/4 full. Me at 175lbs. Gps max speed indicates I've hit 68.2 mph. Is that about right or should I expect a little more once the motor gets a few more hours on it. Sure would like to get to the lower 70's if possibe

    Thanks

    Re: ZX200 speed question?? (PSM207)

Which particular 200 hp engine is it (small block 2.6L or big block 3.3L)?

That's pretty close on the speed. Once you get it broke in, and set up just right, you should see 70 to MAYBE 72 when running pretty light in cool water. But, usually run 67-69 under most conditions, especially later in the summer temps.
That's my experience anyway. Not bad for the size, and weight of the boat IMHO.

You probably have a Yamaha (vmax series) T1 prop, if it's a 3.3 liter HPDI engine.

This might sound stupid but how do you know if it is a 2.6 or a 3.3 liter? I asked for a 200 hp HPDI motor. Didn't know there were different 200 hp HPDI motors.

I believe the 3.3 liter engines will have the 3.3 liter designation on the engine cowling. Is "VMax" also on your cowling?

I misread your original post. I first thought that you had the SX200, but now realize it is the ZX200. Sorry for my error.

    That's most definitely a 3.3 liter.

    Good looking boat!

you have a 3.3liter, gps speeds 67-69 " average " like some others said, if you have one that hits 70mph GPS , in stock form, you have a fast one, NO HULL IS EXZACTLY THE SAME , therefore some of guys can hit 70-70.5 gps, with very light load, reserch old posts from past on the same boat

    Re: ZX200 speed question?? (SKEETERBUG1)

Ok cool. I'm still getting used to the boat. It seems that if I'm at WOT and going straight or slightly turning left then it starts to chime walk. Slightly turning right it smooths out and speeds up. I guess I just need to play with the trim and get used to it. This is quite an upgrade from a Nitro Nx882 with a 150.

put more gas in tank on other side and lighten load on your side and it will help .at least it did mine

71.1gps with about 40 gallons in cooler water at 5,950 and 2 inches below pad with the 25 T1... 69 most anytime... I can't seem to get a reply when I ask if anyone with a 200 HDPI-ZX200 has a 26 prop and specs are? One guy claims near 73 with a 27 TXP...hard to believe nobody in the last 3-4 years has run a 26 pitch with the Zx200-200HDPI.

    Re: ZX200 speed question?? (reelman)

id love to try a 26" prop in a tempest, but the way gas costs are now im not worried about hittin magical 70+ mph, to justifiy buyin another new prop ,i only go full throttle when in tournments, when im racin against the "clock"... i too have interest in how performance does on their 19.5 fter skeeter, with a 26" prop, seems like 27" prop would be too much unless have done some mods to engine

One of the guys on here with a ZX200 & 3.3 HPDI tried a 26TXP prop on his boat. We talked back & forth about it a good while back. He said it was a little too much prop for the 200, and he had the best results running the 25TXP on his boat. I was curious about it too.

    Re: ZX200 speed question?? (looking4five)

I hear you...am also 4k rpms after blastoff and run-to-weigh... I may win the lotto and re-pitch the 25T1 to a 26... or maybe not... in theory if the 25 is right at 6k the 26 should be at 5,800 and raise engine a bit to get near 6k again... thought somebody had "been there, done that" but guess not...

    Re: ZX200 speed question?? (buckrub13)

I've run 70.6 gps with 3/4 gas, full gear, and wifey on a not so good day. Had a stiff cross wind and more than slight chop.

Have seen 71.5 by myself on a similar day and all but the wifey in the boat. Hoping to get a good run in this year to test it out since being repowered last year. Didn't get a chance to test it out last summer to see what it will really do.

Running a 25 TXP by Mark, at about 3/4" below pad. Need to run higher yet to see for sure. Last year was just too busy on the lakes to run hard, and maybe with the price of gas it will be a little quieter this year.

With the stock prop we saw 69.1 with both of us, full gear, and a little over 1/2 fuel.

    Re: ZX200 speed question?? (CGWright)

Sounds good but 3/4 inch below pad? I measured, leveled (used level on both engine & over rear trailer tire past it on step) and re-measured to be sure my engine was 2 inches below (rigged stock that way)... man, 3/4 inch below is way up there...how many rpms and psi? Also, how much trim is the sweet spot? 1/2? 2/3? 3/4 up on the gauge?
