    A few drips.

When I fish in the rain I have a few spots in my storage compartments that get dripping water from around the edges of the compartments. I have heard this is pretty common on the Skeeters. Anyone figured out a good fix?

    Re: A few drips. (Neilslure)

Sorry this is so long...I've edited it twice trying to shorten it.

I've watched the guys in the service department work thru this issue a time or two. I've also come to realize a few things from watching my own boat in the rain and how the water drains when the lids are opened.

First is that often the culprit is not that water is coming into the compartment by going under the lip on the edge, it's coming in by dripping in from the top from the lid when it's opened. A way to test for this is with a large pitcher of water when the boat is dry. With the deck lid open pour the water onto the outside of the raised lip. See if it comes into the compartment or drains off.

If you determine water doesn't come into the compartment by going under the raised edge close the compartment lid and pour water onto the edges. Saturate it, let it sit for a few minutes then open it up. Watch how the water drains off of the lid. Hopefully it'll all run down the carpeted sides of the lid and onto the deck. I've noticed a lot that drips directly into the compartment. I consider that minimal and something that can't really be helped, just as if I opened the compartment while it's raining.

Secondly, if it is leaking thru the aluminum lip you can seal around the outside of the aluminum lip with a clear sealant as if you were applying caulking.

Re: A few drips. (EL Skeeter)

Pretty sure mine is dripping around the lip. I can see where it drips off of the lids.
