Map update downloads to be fixed soon....

Just got off the phone with support. My free one year builtin map up-date window is over this month, so I wanted to get the latest updates. I know my Lakevu is out of date (2016.0) but not sure on the BkueChart (2015.5).


Anyway, its still impossible to download any map up-dates from the web site. I tried IE, Chrome, Edge, Firefox and went through all the steps to "fix" IE so it should work but nada. Also tried Garmin Express which failed. I couldnt even get anything to admit there were any maps at all!

Anyway, I talked to support and was told that Garmin Express might work sometimes, maybe, but the website is toast - my words not his. Express does not work for me.

BUT - they are in the process of up-dating it right now and it should be ready in a "couple of weeks".

I tried to talk him into sending me the downloads on an sd card, but he said he couldnt?

I was surprised by that because I know they have done that for other folks. Not too up-set because Im in no big hurry and he said he made a note so I could still get my free download even if it was after my deadline when they got the website fixed.

I am running the 2016 US Lakes HD Ultra, will those be included in the updates also or do you know. I have a couple months yet so my concerns are not like yours, just curious.

in Garmin Express where do you see the version you have versus what's currently available to download?

I am having a similar problem with my 93sv. The problem is that my unit is showing that the mapping is updated on the softwae page, but the actual map is still the original one that came wih the unit in 2015. I have an SD card that Garmin sent me that was updated FEB 2016, I also have the latst softare update (3.80). Can anybody think of how to make this unit show the update map version?
I like the unit but this one stumps me.

I was told that Garmin Express works for some people and not for others. I got the impression that it failed for most people and it was a rare exception for it to work. For me, it wont even tell me that I have any maps at all.

The only thing to do is call support.

If you are getting close to the end of your one year time, I would call ahead and be sure they make a note to allow you to do the download after they get it fixed.

Im not sure I believe the 2 weeks thing. This has been going on for well over a year now.

My question, is Express telling me what I have or what's available to download? I know the maps on my 7608 are the 2016 Lake charts. Are there newer maps that those available? Nothing on Garmin's site indicated a version number anywhere.

So, I used Express and downloaded whatever it thought I should download. Slapped the SD card in my 7608 and, well, I don't see any options anywhere to update the maps. Nothing happens when I insert the card, whether the unit is powered on or not. No instructions in the manual for updating the maps, just the software.

Going to call Garmin later today. I have a feeling it downloaded the same version of maps that I already have on the unit.

Be sure to ask them to make a note so you can re-try after they fix things. You only get one free download and this may have used yours up.
