    Trim rod not well fastened

    Hi,

I noticed today that the trim rod of my ficht 175 (E175FPXSSV) is moving horizontally. I don't know if it is a new event or not. Is it normal?

I saw that there are 2 caps on the rod (one at each side) that seem to retain the rod but I didn't succeed in moving them in order to fasten the rod.

The caps seem different than the retaining rings described on the BRP part website (part# 0336529). Should I change them??

I assume that you are talking about the thrust rod that the motor rests agaiinst when trimmed all the way in. This is the rod that can be moved into numbered holes in the stern brackets.

The thrust rod, sometimes called a tilt pin, will slide back and forth a bit, and it is secured by spiral-rings that slip into a narrow groove on each end.
