Just a quickie - evinrude 50 compression / reverse lock

I'm off to probably buy a (I recon mid 90's) evinrude 50 in about 1.5 hours time!

I'm going to try and borrow a friends compression tester buit what sort of compression should I be liiking for in a 2 cyl model.

Also it looks like the motor has no lock to stop the leg rising when in revese - is this right or has something important fallen off??

Bought it anyway! - it is a 1990 model and he'd fixed the reverse lock problem.

How can he get out and enjoy it? He is in the UK the land of eternal rain , that is like living in Seattle ! Only way he can enjoy it is if he trailers it to the French Riveira (oohlaalaa) .

Sadly you're right!

I'm actually gearing up for 2 weeks bobbing round the islands on the west coast of scotland in July / August - now THAT'S guaranteed rain!
