    New to Skeeters

Hey guys, I'm going to look at a skeeter tonight. This will be my first boat, but I was just wondering if you guys might know of any problems or skeeter specific things I may need to look for. It's a 96' ZX180 if that may ring any bells. Any tips anyone could lend would be great. Thanks!

Oh yeah, Also, What is the difference between the ZX's and SX's? When I was talkin' to him on the phone he said it was a 180, and I kinda assumed ZX, but is there any other model it could be?

I believe the 180 is pre-97' when they went to the 185, and now it is a 190. ZX has all the bells and whistles and a bit different hull than the SX. One thing you will want to do is get a compression and leak down test on the motor for an authorized mechanic of your choice. Also, have the lower unit and shaft inspected. If he wants to sell the boat this should not be a problem.

Probably the biggest differences between the ZX / SX series is the more aggressive hull and Jackplate for the ZX. They also tend to have more standard options that the SX series has optional. I would personally look for a 2000 or newer ZX series boat instead, the enhancements they made after 2000 are worth it.

I own a 2007 zx190 and love it.The zx series has a lot more options than the sx.It is a better performing hull that handles alot better than the sx.This is a great fishing boat that will not be out run by the big boys who have alot more exspensive toys.I personally would not by an older boat, about the oldest used boat i would buy would be an 05.Remember when buying a used boat you can only finance for a few years and there isnt much resale.

I picked up a 1996 zx180 for my father in law. It is a great boat. the deck fishes really nice and it handles the water very nice.
for your first bass boat, you should be happy with it.
