    Lift assist for MK?

Saw a couple posts about a lift assist kit for Minn Kotas. Is there such a kit? I looked on Minn Kotas site and found nothing. It Would be a great addition to my 80#Maxxum.

Do it yourself...I did this and it made a huge difference. I put one shock on and it is much easier to raise and deploy.

I did it and it's great, two fingers to lift. I put the bottom mount a little more into the lower mount material, tapped all the holes, used Loctite, and spaced the lower ones out with washers to make the shocks clear the sides. Effort to stow motor: about two pounds.

The lift assist is not a kit, but repair parts for the MaxPro mount. However, since the basis for the MaxPro mount was the Maxxum mount, the parts that make it a lift assist will retro fit to the Maxxum mount. Until MinnKota quits making these parts, I can get the parts you need.

John, thanks for responding. What kind of $$$ are we looking at? I'm guessing that if a guy can put the motor together and mount it that this would be fairly straightforward work. Yes?

I believe that John said $225 on another thread I saw on this topic on BBC.

Jeff is correct. The parts sell for $225.00 plus the shipping. Mounting is straight forward and I send instructions.

At 65 years old, my 80 lb Maxxum hand control is getting heavier and heavier every year, especially since the bow of my Lund is about a foot above my front deck. So, I am actually lifting it with my arms higher than if it were mounted level with the deck. I think it is time to call John and order one of these.

The 70# is too light to properly work the strut. The lift assist is designed for the 4" motors.
