    Steering question

I drove a 300ZX 1995 model the other day It does not have hydr. steering. It was sorta stiff when idling but was easier when running fast. Is this something to be concerned with? It seems like a strong boat, but it is the first big boat that I have drove it has a 225 mariner on it.

Well, alittle resistance is normal. When you have to use both hands to turn the wheel it's time to switch to Hydro!

    Re: Steering question (dcbassman)

trimming makes all the difference with cable steering, I had it in my old skeeter and have hydraulic in my new one, I will never have cable steering again. The feedback is nice to feel what your motor really wants to do, but it's too dangerous (if you let go, it will spin out)

    Re: Steering question (skeetzx225)

If I do purchase the boat what are my options on aftermaket hydro steering kits? Or should I just try to get a boat with hydro steering?

I would say that you are looking at $800-1000 for hydraulic steering system. A new set of cables would probably cost 225-250 install yourself.

Do most people opt for hydro steering on an older boat or just replace cables?
