Selling my Skeeter and NADA Value Question!

My question might sound crazy, but when I look up my boat in the NADA online guide, does the Low retail and the Avg Retail price include the outboard? When I select my boat, year, and model, they include an outboard, but it is the wrong size. Should I use this value or do I need to go back and figure the outboard separate?

I did a search, but I didn't really find the answer that I am looking for.

I am just trying to get an idea of what the value of my boat is.

    Thx, fastlife

Figure the value w/o the outboard then find your motor value and add it in. You also need to see if the trailer value is included. If not you will have to find it and add it on also.

You can also take the value of the boat, motor, trlr as the NADA gives it, then get the outboard value of your motor versus the value of the motor size that NADA has listed with the boat and add or subtract the difference from the value of the whole rig. Got it?

Call your local dealer and have them give you a ABOS Blue Book Value on it. This is a more realistic value than NADA. If you can't find it, NADA is generally 8-10% high.

I am SOOOO glad you asked this question! I am such a newb and feel like I ask too many questions. I'm looking at a used Skeeter and checked NADA and it made absolutely NO sense to me. I'm looking around at comparable boats, not just local but across the country just to get a feel. They are all +-$500 to the $3500 this guys is asking. Yet, NADA says this boat is worth $12-1300. What? It clearly states where you select the year of the Skeeter you're checking that outboard and trailer are included. However, something's not right.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, I consider myself a fairly bright guy, but the NADA sight made me want to go to class with my 5 yr old to get smarter.

Thanks for the replies. I think that I can at least get a better picture of what it all means. I am looking to list my Skeeter in the BoatTrader this weekend.

What is unique about buying or selling a used boat is that there are no two alike. Differant models, different colors, differeny conditions, more HP, different brand of motors, differant add on, etc.
Watching similar boat sales on eBay may help you get a feel. NADA is always high.

That boat in excellent shape will sell for $11,500-$12,500. Depends what part of the country you are in also, the price could go up or down a few hundred. Good Luck.

Re: Selling my Skeeter and NADA Value Question! (SkeeterBill1)

Oh, one more thing. If you are serious about selling you want to take the first reasonable offer because you generally seem to only get a couple. My problem was I would not let mine leave the driveway until I had another. The boats I was looking at were Bullets and 15 hour drives. Buying a used boat looking at pics and a guy telling me "she runs strong dude" did not work out well. I talked myself out of a couple rigs. Really don't regret not selling now, my ZX has been a great boat.
