    Aurora Canvas

Is anyone using one of the covers made by them?

I'm looking for a cover that will last - for the long haul.

I don't trailer with the boat covered that often, but when i do, its usually for an out of state trip. Also, my boat has to sit outside year 'round - so i need a very durable cover. We go from failry warm with high humidity to sub-freezing with fair amounts of snow/ice accumulation. (MID-WEST/Missouri)

Shout back with your thoughts/experiences with covers. They can get quite expensive, so i would rather not do the whole try buy thing.....

I do not have an Auroura canvas on my Skeeter, but they make a very good product. If I am not mistaken, they manufacture the covers for Skeeter.

Got one, looks good, but I'm not sure if its cut out for long term outdoor storage. It is a heavy polyester type of canvas. I'd guess its not that waterproof after sitting out a while. I've had better luck with covers made with the Aqualon material (Ranger Boat covers). Maybe look into the ones made by the Boat Boys.

I almost had Aurora make my cover, but I found a local company which did an excellent job. I spoke with the Aurora, and as with most cover manufacturers, there are several material choices.

Had one on my last boat (Gambler) and was kept outside for 5 years no problem. Good fit, but it did catch a lot of wind when trailering.

I have one... I think it's the Acryillic material ( cost about $650 ). I would suggest that if you order one, that you ask them to add the gas cap flaps, so you can fill up without having to un-tie, and possibly and flap for your charger plug. I didn't get those and I wish I had....

The cover is a great cover, fits the boat perfect and attaches perfect to the trailer. The only thing I would say is that it's Heavy, so it's going to take 10 minutes to put on and take off. As for traveling and rain, it will hold up and protect your boat.

    Re: Aurora Canvas (PSM207)

BTW, my Aurora cover is made with their best material. Unfortunately it is heavy and textured like canvas. It may be somewhat waterproof now (or should I say water resistant) but I know from past experience, coated canvas type material (acrylic, polyester or whatever) will not stay waterproof long. The flapping it takes from trailering alone will break down the waterproofing coating, as well as the UV effects from the sun.

I liked the material that had a texture similar to vinyl coating - I think it is Aqualon. It stayed waterproof longer (not counting seams). I do like my Aurora cover though, it fits well, trailers well and looks good (has embroidered Skeeter logos on both sides as well). It'll do its job protecting an outdoor stored boat against the sun (it may fade over time though) but don't expect it to provide much long term water protection.

I agree, I wish I had gotten gas flaps (didn't know I had to ask for them).

    Re: Aurora Canvas (JJohnSind)

Just bought one and used it for the first time.

Not that impressed. If you have a local tarp or canvas place have them custom build one for your boat. that way you get all the padding straps etc. in the right spots.

    I like mine.

I would second the suggestion about having flaps put in for your gas tanks and charger plug.
