    TEMP SENSOR NOT WORKING

I went out sunday and all day the water temp sensor was flashing 32 deg i have a lowrance 520c on the dash with the factory sensor screwed into the the back. i checked on the bow at my x135 and it could not read the temp back there either the temp on the bow was working. so i know its not the units. the gps mod is connected in the back with the temp sensor on the network, it works fine. i checked the connectors and they look ok, and the wire looks ok also . any one else seen, heard or fixed this????thanks

Re: TEMP SENSOR NOT WORKING (MUSKIE08)

A buddies system was doing the exact same thing. I unplugged everything and switched the bus connectors around and reconnected everything and it started to work again. Probably just disconnecting and reconnecting everything fixed it. Those networks are bit picky about voltage.

You have two ways to get temp to work on the new units. One off the network and two off the unit itself. The menus will allow you to select which way you have it connected. They have to be the same as the connections or they will flash 32 all the time. So check what you have connected and how you are configured under the menu.

EVERYTHING WAS WORKING LAST TIME OUT SO EVERY THING IS CONNECTED THE SAME AND I PLAYED WITH THE CONFIGURATION A LITTLE. ILL TRY DISCONNECTING IT AND LETTING IT SIT A LITTLE. IM A MECHANIC FOR ACURA AND THIS CAN WORK SOMETIMES WITH OUR ELETRICAL DEVICES

Wow, your caps lock must be stuck on to

Anyway, another thought is to check the voltage on the system and see if it seems way off. You can get the reading from the unit itself in one of the screens. One last thing would be to switch out the terminator if you have a spare one as they do go bad. You could probably test the resistance across the terminator to see if it matches what it should be as well.

Re: TEMP SENSOR NOT WORKING (symcha)

Have you recently reset your 520? I know my temp sensor was not working on my new ZX190 as I assumed by default it would. Not quite sure I either had to go into Menu then Overlay Data to make sure water temp was checked under GPS or press Menu/Menu then NMEA 2000 and somewhere in there you can activate the temp sensor.

This is all mute if you've already checked this.

Re: TEMP SENSOR NOT WORKING (Phippy)

I did check the it on the 520 and even opened another temp window and same 32, as for the terminator i did not check it yet but being that the gps is plugged in on the same line, i thought it would not work either, or the whole network would not work. i am going to try to unplug it and clean the connectors and put dielectric grease in, to keep from rotting the terminals. maybe it got wet from water coming over the back

Re: TEMP SENSOR NOT WORKING (MUSKIE08)

When you go to the NMEA2000 menu do you get the EP-35 listed under BUS SETUP.
This where your temp is connected...
