Johnson Fast Strike Fuel Leak !!!!!!

I have a 92 Johnson Fast Strike 150 ( MO # Vj150GLENC) and was constantly losing bulb pressure while fishing......when i pump it up i can hear gas in the motor pumping.....i pulled the cover and noticed as gas running under the airbox cover....i removed the cover and noticed it has a small leak from where the small 6 inch section of 3/8 connects to the back fitting of what i am assuming is the fuel pump.....i removed the back hose and it is leaking from that fitting...what is it ?

Vapor seperator. You may get lucky and replace the O ring on the brass fitting and tighten it back up.

I cannot be 100% certain of what you are talking about, though to me anything that "squirts" gas outside the combustion chamber is not "normal" and should NOT do it. SOmeone will be along very soon to properly answer the question. However it sounds to me as though it is time to install an updated VRO pump. Just going off my my personal past experience here.

Good description. The rude guys will know exactly. They will be around here on and off throught the day and I am certain one of them will get ya taken care of.... Food for though. At the top of this page there in a pinned post where you can look up parts. Click on wiring diagrams, put in your e-mail and check or uncheck newsletter info. Have model # ready and look into fuel components. It will give you an idea of what the part is

the part i am reffering to is the vacuum switch...it has a small pin size hole on the backside and is shooting gas on to the back of my airbox when the bulb is primed.....

Re: Johnson Fast Strike Fuel Leak !!!!!! (jake131)

I dont think its supposed to do that. All that switch is for is to tell you if you have to much vacuum in your fuel line, hence a restriction, which could cause you to lose a power head.

I would replace the switch immediately.

You will need BRP # 586544 suggested list price $104.77. Nope it isn't supposed to leak.

Re: Johnson Fast Strike Fuel Leak !!!!!! (jake131)

The vacuum switch is exactly that a vacuum operated switch. It has a membrane, if the membrane encounters a leak then the vacuum is compromised.
    Get a new switch.

Ever hear the term leaky rubber? There you go.

Take my word for it first hand. Order what they say and then go fishing
