    2007 Bassmaster Classic

Has anyone ever attened a Bassmaster Classic? I am thinking of going to this years classic and take my boat. Could anyone give me any pointers about on the water stuff during the classic besides giving the anglers plenty of room? Could anyone from the area suggest a place to stay or what the weather might be? Thanks.

I've been to 5 B.A.S.S Master Classics. PLEASE STAY OFF THE WATER. I'm not a fan of being on the water, it only causes issues and there's a lot more to do off the water all day anyway. It's cool to watch the launch and weigh in but I've seen too many issues with people following the anglers. I personally think its responsible for a few people losing the Classic.

In Charlotte Jason Quinn had over 50 boats following him and could not get anything done, imagine 50 boats next to you while your trying to win the biggest tournament of all time.

Also in Pittsburge, A person from our neck of the woods (Cincinnati) was so close to one of the anglers, the guy who was in 2nd place, that we actually bumped his boat a few times on the final day trying to get his boat on TV.

At the Classic there is an EXPO with tackle and boats. The weigh-ins are awesome to watch and there are usually test drives of new boats. From a fans standpoint, I'd leave your boat at home and respect the pros rights to fish this tournament without an audience

I think I'm just gonna drive down and avoid the whole boat issue. I'm looking forward to the tackle show. Is this something you have to buy a ticket for or do you pay at the door? Can you see everything in the last 2 days or should I go for the whole classic?

If you have the time, go for the entire show. Everything is free, the expo, the weigh-in, the ramp for the launch. The tackle show is usually pretty awesome.

there are several hotels in the area, if you want to come by and check out our dealership one afternoon you can watch the boats go by as they head in to the weight in, we are about 25 minutes from the civic center and there are 2 hotels next door, several others closer in pelham al,

Thanks Chris, I might take you up on that offer. Any idea what the weather might be like that time of the year?

I noticed Monday morning on ESPN2 they were showing an episode from this summer in Little Rock. One of the pros made a comment about the guy sitting in the boat about 30 feet behind him reading a paper on the front bike seat. I made the comment of all the people following behind and sitting around him as well. I don't know about any of you but that would drive me crazy sitting there watching somebody fish. I have a hard time watching it on TV as it is. I could not immagine following one of these guys with the potential to cause something to go wrong and cost him the tourney. I don't see anything wrong with somebody out fishing and stop by for a min to see how things are but moving along. There should be some kind of spectator ruling that once you engage in spectator activities, that should be able to be enforced by the local agency having jurisdiction to keep them away a certain distance. You can't run out on the 50 yard line and cheer for an interception or jump out on the 3rd baseline and cheer on the runner heading for home, why should you be able to pull up behind a guy fishing for $50,000 or $250.000?

AMEN, I has amazed to see how people act at some of these major tournaments. I'm not sure who it was, but the guy who finished 2nd to Vandam 2 years ago in the Classic at Pittsburgh was being bothered by a guy from this area. I heard he was so rattled that it cost him the classic.
