How fast till I fly????????

After watching some boat racing videos, it got me thinking. How fast can my skeeter go until it hits a point where it would fly and flip over like some of those videos? Looking at the front half of the haul, it looks like it can catch air pretty easy. That's all I'm worried about when doing upper 70's to near 80's since sometimes some waves make the boat feels very floaty at those speeds. I'm running an out of the box 27T1. With some BB and alittle work I'm sure 80 is possible with mine considering I'm only 5'2", 145lbs with just a normal tournament load. It's just 2.1 mph(gps) away.

If you're looking at pics of flat-bottoms and hydro's they're going at least double your 80 when that type of flip happens. I doubt you have too much to be concerned with... I won't say it can't happen, I've seen boats get flipped by hitting a big wake, but on a "racing surface" it's not likely.

What Ken said, unless you hit a huge wake at those speeds I dont think it will happen. Heck there are guys out there running triple digits in bass boats that weigh half what your Skeeter does and I dont even think thats anything they worry about. But I guess the arguement could be said that they run relatively flat and dont have all the bow lift that a Skeeter does, but I still dont think it will happen.

I agree. I think you have to be doing 150 mph or more before any flipping would occur, especially in Skeeters which tend to be much heavier than Allisons, Bullets, Norris Craft, etc.
