    2006 ZX225/225 HPDI Set-up

    Hi Guys,

Looking for some input on setting up my rig in order to achieve maximum speed. I'm running a VMAX Series 25T1 15 1/8 pitch. I know the motor is set too low as I'm only revving 5600RPM (70 MPH) fully trimmed out. Any set-up advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Jeff

You need to set the spilt in your jack plate to 2 3/8 inches.

    BTW, Welcome to the boards.

    Re: 2006 ZX225/225 HPDI Set-up (MD ZX225)

I have the same set up ZX225 25T1 (I assume you have the HPDI?) and I pull 6,000 RPMS and with a full load I run 72-74 and solo I have hit 75.5 all on GPS. Raise your jackplate like MD ZX225 said and you will be all set.

    Re: 2006 ZX225/225 HPDI Set-up (SDF150GUY)

Guys, thanks a lot for the information. I have one more question about the mounting of the motor itself on the jackplate. I currently have the top motor mount bolt in the second hole from the top. Where should it be set in order to achieve the right combination with the 2 3/8" split in the jackplate?

    Thanks Again.

    Jeff

    Re: 2006 ZX225/225 HPDI Set-up (MD ZX225)

If you are measuring from the jackplate to the slide I am only at 1.5" but running only 12-15 psi and 6000rpms. It seems to run okay there but doesn't have the best hole shot. Was running in the low 70 range until I had her tuned up and now she is a little slower. If I raise the motor the rpms go over 6000.

what do mean you had her tuned up? what prop are you running? you might need a bigger one or have that one worked.

Took it in for a strange noise and they suggested new plugs and filters. Got her done and took her back out and was only running around 68-69. I am running the 25T-1. My buddy borrowed it for a tourney on Truman and he seemed to think it was running just fine.
