In the CLOSED position, if you pull the boat out of the lake and it has water in the livewells, with them closed it'll stay in there. OPEN and it'll drain out the bottom of the boat down by the drain plug. That's what the Open/Close is controlling.

On the switch, FILL will pull in fresh water from the lake and fill up the livewell. RECIRCULATE takes water from the bottom of the livewell and pumps it back up and into the top. This creates oxygen while the water splashes.

To fill your livewells you have 2 options. First you can turn the lower valve to OPEN and back up the boat. This will quickly fill them about 1/2 full. You're forcing water in the drain tubes down at the bottom and it's going into the livewells. Turn it to CLOSED for the remainder of the day and turn the switch to FILL until it's filled.

The other way to fill it is to put the valve to CLOSED and the switch to FILL. That will take awhile longer to fill it up. Once it's full you'll switch it to RECIRCULATE.

You also have a 3rd control switch on the dash and that's the timer. It controls the frequency that the recirculate feature comes on.

If you have an AUTO feature, it controls the fill switch and keeps the wells full. You could use the RECIRCULATE in the OPEN position and the AUTO will keep the level from getting to low. If you try to run on plane with the lever OPEN and the switch on RECIRCULATE all the water will drain out while you're trying to get on plane. I always keep the lever in the closed position and only switch it to OPEN just as I would remove the drain plug.

    Sorry so long....hope I didn't confuse you.

If you want them to stay full your best bet is auto. Auto will bring water in and let it overflow out of the boat. If it is on reci then it is just using the water that it already has in the livewell to add oxygen.

I had a SX 190 last year and if I left it on reci the water would disappear. I figured out that when I got on plan or came off plan water was overflowing out into the bilge area.
I don't know where we are, but we are making darn good time.
