Tow vehical for my 188vs

I have a Chevy 3500 4x4 crew cab 8' bed. With a 6.0 liter. Great truck but i am looking for another truck to buy that smaller that will tow my boat without any issues. The 3500 is rough on gas with a 4:10 rear and is a little tough with some of the launch areas i deal with for room. I'm keeping it due to i use it for work. Any suggestions.

Yeah, the little brother to your truck, Silverado 1500 Z71, whici is a 4x4 for those mosy ramps.

I pull my 185VS with a Z71 with 5.3liter/ 3.42 gears with absolutely no problems.

When it comes to fuel mileage, nothing beats the power of diesel.

I have GMC 2500HD 4x4 with a Duramax and 3.73 gears. I usually get 15-17mpg towing my 521vx. I have gotten 18mpg with a slight tail wind. With a smaller boat, you could expect a little better mileage.

Your truck is really long. I like to keep my trucks short. Mine is an extended cab with the short bed. It is a lot easier to park, back the boat up, and turn around. I recently added a Roll-N-Lock bed cover. Now I have an extra dry storage compartment.

Thanks for all the replys. I am leaning towards a 1500 with a 5.3 liter. Must be a short bed with and extended cab. Rear I'm guessing a 3.42 or a 3.73. I am not going to buy new though. Looking for something 2008 to 2010. Color is really not an issue. The truck i have now is overkill.. you can't even feel the boat behind you at all. It's worth it to have for pulling heavy dump trailers and loading it up with material. I guess the search begins

A 4.8L is plenty for that boat, preferably with a 3.73 limited slip rear. I tow an R91 with one.
