this is what a stump will do

Hit a submerged stump this morning going to our first spot during a tournament. On the way to the fiberglass shop with the 520VX.

Hopefully it can be correctly repaired. Saw one like that a few years ago that couldn't be repaired, where pad and transom tie together was crushed.

My home lake, Blackshear and in a channel I have ran a 1,000 times. The fiberglass shop said it was not that bad. The only problem is it has to dry where the water got in the glass. He said that could take a few days even with fans and heat. He put it in a cradle and inclined the bow to help it drain. It makes me want to puke, I sold my Stratos in December and got the Ranger and I just ordered a power pole for it.

Nope it did not touch the lower unit and I don't know how it missed it. I guess when I hit the stump it threw the back end around enough for the lower unit to miss it. I was coming off plane when I hit it and it did not feel like a hard hit. I idled about 100 yards and went to get a rod when the auto bilge kicked on. That is when I got that sick feeling in my gut. I turned on a second bilge and it started pumping hard. I then told my partner I had to get the boat on plane because we were taking on water. I idled back to the main channel got up on plane ran about 3 miles back to the ramp. We loaded it and found the damage. I just hope the fiberglass shop can get it fixed pretty quick.
