Re: recommended props for best top end speed (BayouBandit51)

Im running the yama 25p t1 prop...

I just picked this rigg up this week and finally had a chance to take it out for a ride I got it up to 66.7 mph gps...the boat has a minnkota talon shallow water pole/5 battery/2 person and 2 full tank of fuel....dose this sound correct asfar as speed? Also it has a manual 6 in jackplate I was thinking about adjusting the heights but I have no clue whatsoever?

    I would try a 25p Razor-3.

I've got the same boat same prop. However I don't have 5 batteries and don't understand why you would need a 5th. Ive got a 10" hyd jp that I run 3" below. I also have 2 power poles and a heavy load of gear. With that said I'll run 69 - 70 with it full of fuel. 73 mph with 1 tank full. I'm curious to what the razor would do but most of the prop guys have said to have the TI25 balanced & blueprinted. I have called Mark's shop a couple of times & left my # with the lady but still haven't heard from Mark to get his input!!

Thx for the reply guys... Anyway I dont know how low or how high the propshaft is supposed to be ...its also seems like the rooster tail is pretty high up when toped out with trim max...should I lower the jack plate? Today with 3 guys I only toped at 63 mph...

As a general rule the rooster tail should not be higher than your motor cowling. Are you getting much lift? What RPM's are you turning? My guess is you need to lower it, but hard to tell without more info.

What are your current rpm's at WOT? The prop shaft height should be about 3.5"-4" below pad. You should still be running close to 70mph with that load.

Re: recommended props for best top end speed (utinator)

No roster tail anymore after lowering it 1 1/2 inchers at top end...Rpm 5400 @ 67.7 mph by my self and 20 gallon of fuel light fishing load...just by looking at it its about 4 below pad...It didn't make a different as far speed...will do more testing...

Re: recommended props for best top end speed (henry900bass)

What kinda rpm's am I suppose to be seeing on this setup? I have another question, when measuring the prop shaft to the pad is the prop shaft supposed to be in a straight line flat position ? Or trim it down all the way until it tuck in?
