http://www.bassboatcentral.com/measuring.htm #2 is the method I used. Mine is 3-1/4" below the pad on a 2000 518 with 200 Optimax and a 25 tempest plus runs 70 + - 1 or 2 mph depending on how it's loaded.

3 1/4" is the magic number.
So checked the motor height and it's 1 1/2 in. below pad... What type of changes should I see by moving it to the 3 1/4 in. below pad? Thanks guys![]()
Definitly something wrong there. I have 2002 518dvx w 200hp Ficht without a jack plate running a 24p Raker prop and I could run 67-69mph.
Dawnpatrol.

Well I'm hoping moving it down on the jackplate will cause more lift which should give me more speed. It's also a 2.5L and not the 3.0It doesn't help he has a TON of crap in the boat that's weighing that boat down. Going to go run it Saturday after I make a few tweaks and see how she runs

Nothing wrong with a 2.5 L that is a fantastic motor it is all in the prop and setup and amount of weight in boat and weight placement.
I have been told a fury will lift boat more but a temp plus will be faster. I have run a 25fury but never had a chance to crank it up for a long run on Erie. I run a temp plus and saw 64 in a short burst about a mile run in the late fall with a stuffed full boat and 50 gallon of gas . I have a 6" bobs
I am running a 2001 with a 2001 2.5L and could care less haw fast it runs with gas prices at 3.89 a gallon and raising I will be at 3500 rpm all year I guess
Very true man. Cruising and getting good mpg this year with gas prices so high maybe my game plan as well![]()
W.O.T. Let it eat!
