How daring am I ? Thru hull transducer install.

The boat is an '06 Z21, It presently has a thru hull transducer w temp sensor, I think its for a Humminbird. It has a threaded on nut on the top and seems to be cemented in with dark colored silicone or epoxy, It is located in the step area of the hull, and shows clear silicone from below. Do I dare to remove it and replace it with a Lowrance unit. OR, just sand down an area beside it and epoxy a skimmer style that comes w/ the HDS, A good friend of mine suggested the skimmer style because it would be easier to get a flat installation......What's the consencous guys ???

...............sand down a good spot in bilge and epoxy in skimmer..................It will read just fine and you won't have to worry about kicking it up or tearing it off ..............if mounted on outside of hull.......... ..........JMHO...................RR

Where is you get the mesh tubing for you HDS cables ?

I cut a section out of a black rod slick to use as mesh sleeve for my HDS wires. Dresses the whole thing up.
