Question about the layout under the bench seat of 89' 374 Ranger

Gentlemen,
Though I'd ask you Ranger guys, in case someone has experience in this. I'm doing a full restore on my 374V and opted to do something different with my seating arrangment. I'm putting in two bucket seats and leaving out the little middle seat. It always got tore up from everybody stepping on it to get to the back deck. So, I'm thinking why not put in a drop box, carpet the lid and use this as a step for the back deck w/ bonus storage underneath! My question is, does anyone know what is underneath the middle of the bench seat base? Would it be possible to cut into this and install a drop box????You'll see the spot I'm talking about in the pic. Thanks for any information.

wheres your fuel tank????

Both fuel tanks are in very back of transom, trolling batts are behind them on both sides and crankin batt is in the middle along with charger. All this is in back compartment behind the livewells that you see in the pic............troutgnat

Im betting on foam being there but havent tried what your thinking about so dont know for sure. I have thought of doing that to mine also but afraid of whats under there. If you do it or find out let me know. Thanks

I'll going to be visiting the Ranger parts dep't on Monday. Yes, I'm lucky the factory is less than an hour away from my house. I will let you know. Do you have any other questions you'd like me to ask them?
