02 Ranger Trail Cool Hubs leaking?

Hello all,

I changed out the oil in my 02 Ranger Trail Cool Hubs a couple months ago. On the 3rd road trip since then I noticed a starburst looking oil leak around the decoration plate on the driver side rear wheel. There is no oil on the ground where she has been sitting since. I haven't taken it apart to fully inspect yet, but am guessing it is a seal issue? The window on the hub is still jet black like the other 3 so I know there is still oil in it. Any advice would be most appreciated. I'd like to order parts before I can find the time to get really involved with it. Better that it happened now than next spring though.

If you did not use a little sealant on the fill plug it could be seeping, otherwise it sounds like time to order a set of seals & replace them.

What particular sealant should I have used? I will check that and use it this time.

You can use a bit of automotive silicone (orange in color) Permatex etc. It does not need to be something special.
