1) Yes, just lately.
2) Don't know for sure.
Try a tent seem sealer on the thread sewn seem areas. Then after dry I follow it up with a spray on waterproofer such as stuff you would spray on boots to waterproof. On my grey cover although it dries clear the areas I spray this on does not match the rest of the cover then. At this point it is only a matter of time before you need a new cover. I would usually waterproof the cover like this 3 times a year. Also check for dry rotted seems and have them re sewn.

Go to Walmart, in the hunting section, it's called silicone water guard, has a bright orange cap. Works very well, spray the seams twice. eagle521
I am having the same problem on a fairly new cover.... Old cover was better then new and both are ranger covers
I have a brand new 2012 521 and the cover leaks like the Exxon Valdez

Guess I've been fortunate, none of mine have ever had a problem.
