Replacing old defective Lowrance transducer and just a little uncomfortable with removing the old one. Anyone willing to share their experience? Boat is an '00 520. Thanks...

i took a hammer and a block of wood and gave it a few whacks..came right up![]()
Depends on what type it is. My 97 came from Ranger with "through hull" transducers. If you take them out there is a hole in the boat. I just left mine in and disconnected them.

I've changed a couple of them out. I use a cold chisel and a ball peen hammer. Put the chisel almost flat on the floor against the base of the transducer. Give it a whack with the ball peen. They usually pop right off the floor. Clean off the old epoxy using a side grinder with a cat's paw (flapper laid flat in a disk) and you are ready to glue the new one back in the same spot.
