Yes sir u shure can, if u have the HDS Lowrance i would get the SONIC HUB system and add that to ur depth finders, only way to go any more.
Read a little about it. Do you have to install speakers?

Yes sir u sure sure do, it comes with some with some very nnice speakers, not cheap ones at all.

One more question. On the to the left of the steering wheel on the console there is a plate that has nothing on it. If i wanted to install the docking system there do i need to call ranger to send a special plate?
I am about to order a Z-521, this is good info. I am going to spec in the Sonic Hub as this next boat will be 100% Lowrance.

No special plate needed, the somic hub comes with very thing you need but the small jumper and u can pick that up at any radio shack.

You can use your existing plate in the dash to the left of your steering wheel, cut and mount your ipod docking station in the plate. That is where mine is mounted. Also I copied a friends lead and painted the speakers to 'match' the inside hull color; mine are red, his were silver. People ask "where are the speakers" when they are sitting right next to them and put their rods right under one.

I know you said the left side, however these pictures may serve useful to give you an idea of the docking station. The camera pics I took was of the Lowrance boat display at the Angler's Marine Bass-A-Thon last month.
This is exactly where I'll install my docking station, as the left plate on my boat has an X-135 installed. Good luck with your install.
If u have a dual console we have installed them lots of time over on the dual console part.

How do you run the wires for the speakers?
I had mine mounted by my dealer as part of the purchase so I did not see the wires being ran and am not sure how they ran them.
