if so what prop are you running I have a 27 Shooter on a Johnson fastrike turning 5800 rpms and getting 60 to 62 mph by gps out of her. Would a 24 Raker give me more lift and speed or should I be happy with what I have????

Al I have a 363 with a Johnson gt 150 with the same prop and only turning 5500 @ 58.2 gps
I would say your doing pretty good . You may not like how the boat handles with a three blade compared to the shooter . Those four blade just hook up so nice![]()
Last time I tried a Raker it was real squirrely or loose and I didn't feel like I was in control ,but if it'll get me a few more mph I'll give it a go

Have you tried a jack plate yet???
I have a 1990 362V with 150gt johnson running a 24" raker and 6" jackplate. I am turning 5500rpms and 60 on gps. I was running a 13.5 x 23" 4 blade renegade and was turning 5600 and running 60-62 on gps. I actually liked the renegade prop better as it handles rough water and keeps bow down on water better, Also when turning hard left/right the prop it does not blowout. Biggest thing i felt for me was the renegade prop was consistent all the time and gave me more bow lift and not much loss with full tourney load and partner. It also had a little better holeshot too and when accelerating the prop was solid from on plane to w.o.t.
hope this helps, im, me if you need additional info,
Garland
I tried a 13 1/2 by 27 Renegade today but the holeshot wasn't what I liked top end was about 62.9 at 5500rpms a little too much prop maybe a 25 or 23 would be better my old Shooter is at 5800rpms and speed is 61.6 today holeshot is great so I guess I'll just be satisfied .

im running a 373v which just has another console on it. imho, id stay w/ the 4 blade. im running a 24 raker on an 150 intruder and it is a handful at times. if you're at all concerned about squeezing the last few mph out of the boat switch to a good 3 blade raker. if you're more concerned w/ how the boat handles get a 4 blade
how much more can I realistically think about getting out of my set-up with a 3 blade????

im seeing 63 myself with a light load and prop that needs to be reworked a little bit from battle scars on the river. you might see 65 +/- 2 mph on a light load. think the 4 blade will be a better all around performer though
hey al, Im new to the forum I have a 374V ranger... just purchased a couple of months ago.. the engine is trashed... am in the process of rebuilding it with a new block pistons and bearings...( evinrude xp150)... its a 4 blade shooter prop... soon as i get it in the water for the first time ill let you know how it rolls...
Maverick
you should be happy with that. thats fast for that rig.

Twitch,
I've got an 89' 374V with a XP150 Evinrude undergoing a full restoration project. I've fished it for the last 2years but I'll be honest, never really cared before about props, speed, mpg and all that buzz. I believe she has a 24p Predator prop on her with no jack plate. My gauges are all trashed so I never really had an exact RPM reading or speed for that matter. And for that matter the prop is beat up pretty bad too. I do know now since I'm in the middle of this project I'm going to do her up right so Yes, I'm looking to put a new prop and a jack plate on my rig. I have alot to learn so I'll take any information anyone can provide.![]()
Troutgnat.
24" Raker will perform better on the boat than the shooter will Sir..................RR

It seems to me you are turning too many rpm for a 27" prop with a 150. I feel either your tach is way off (quite possible) or you are running the engine way too high and getting a lot of slip. A raker has always been the best for top speed. Shooter good for handling. It is a matter of what you are looking for.
