150 E-TEC HO 07

what are your experiences with the 150 E-TEC HO engine? Is performance much better than the 150? Reliability? I am looking to get a new engine, and wonder if this is the one that i want.

Been thinking about different scenarios myself.

I've had an 07 150 HO since May of last year (thought it was an 06 but the serial number says 07). It's got a ton of low end torque and I haven't had an issue with it except for EMM updates. I haven't had the chance to run a normal 150 but the salesman that sold me the boat had the same boat with a 150 opti and he said there was no comparison, the 150 HO had significantly more low end torque and top end speed.

gmchiryder - what are the differences between the 150HO and the normal 150? Is gearing the same? HP same? is the 150HO lower unit exactly same design or does it have a different nosecone and water pickup than the normal 150?

150 HO should be around 165hp, same gearing, lightning gearcase which should gain a couple of mph over the magnum used on the standard 150. Not sure if the water pickups are different or not.
