If I had to guess your paying for a oil that is not mass produced as much as the other oils. BRP sells alot more XD30 and 50 then they do XD100.

The quick answer is synthetic additives are made from petrochemicals plus the labs and factories run on petroleum.

The quick answer is ,Because they can !! It seems, if they can use the rising oil prices as an excuse to raise their prices , they will. All labs and Factories use petro , but most can only raise their prices in direct relation to the extra costs associated with the cost of rising petro. But, when your product is oil (synthetic or not) the general consensus is that it 100% of the product is related to crude prices. And last , When your product ,XD100, is supposedly the only product available( can someone say monopoly) the quick answer is still Because they can!!

Out here the difference between XD50 and XD100 is $5. Thankfully our motors like gas more then oil otherwise we would be in big trouble if we had to buy a gal of oil every tank at $40 a gal.
