Did a search and still questioning this engine! Have found a helluva deal on a 99 Stratos with a 99 Rude 200 hp Ficht. All the updates were done to the engine in 2001. My question is did these updates "fix" the issues with these motors?
This is the only concern I have with this boat and I'm not sure if I should walk away simply because I hear the word "Ficht". I will have the model # and serial # on Friday if someone here would run a check on the history I would be forever in your debt.

It really sucks to be worried all the time if your motor is going to have problems. I've had only one problem, but i'm always waiting.

I had a '98 Ficht 175 and it was a great running motor......when it was running.
Mine required constant maintenance to keep it from carbing up and my check engine light was constanly on for no apparent reason according to my mechanic. Blew one powerhead. But I have heard others who had no problems. Just my expierience.
