New Phoenix 721 - couple of questions.

New to the Phoenix family and BBC site. Couple of questions of my new 721.

    1. Having trouble getting the boat to accept gas. It takes 10 mintes to put 2 gallons of fuel in it. The gas just blows back out of the filler neck. Any suggestions???

    2. Having trouble loading the boat on moderate to steep ramps. If if have the water just barely above rear of the trailer fender ( I mean barely, just past the point where the fender goes from a curve to flat surface) the bow goes under the front roller (winch). If I pull the trailer out of the water any further, I can't push the boat on to the trailer far enough to hit the front roller. Even at full throttle with a lot of trim.

On a shallow ramp, it loads fine. Still need to have a fair amount of trim, to lift the bow on top of the front roller.

Any help is appreciated, nothing better than looking like the fool who cant load his boat at tournaments.

    Thanks

    Welcome!

    1. I fill my Phoenix SLOWLY. I take the nozzle, turn it upside down, stick just an inch or two in the fuel opening (you gotta tease her a little ). Then engage the handle. Once the fuel begins flowing, I back off almost to the point of no flow.

Over a few trips you'll develop a feel for how much gas you need in relation to the fuel gauge.

    2. There was a thread last week about loading. I don't want to attemt to re-tell all of those suggestions... It made my head hurt just reading it.

    ah, here it is...

Flip the nozzle upside down and go at about 3/4 max flow. Also, if you use STABIL or Seafoam put it in AFTER you fill up not before as it foams up and causes blowback that you are describing.

As for loading, don't put your trailer in as far. I load on the steepest of ramps here on Lake Norman and just put the trailer in til the fenders are about 3/4 of the way submerged. Trim your big motor up and power her up on to the trailer. Otherwise you'll come in too shallow and your TM will be under the roller - no fun.

It'll come to you soon enough. My Ranger had it's things it needed as did my Triton, it's all part of learning YOUR boat and how it loads. Keep us posted on how you are making out.

Initially, I had some fueling issues but now the boat fuels up with no problems. I think it has something to do with the nozzles at the gas stations. Try a different station or one with a different nozzle. I go to a Chevron station and have no issues. However with Exon the nozzles can be tricky.

I put the trailer in so about 2-4 inches of the center bunks are out of the water. Slowly come in to the trailer with the boat and let it settle in and center. Trim up a little, hit the gas moderately and it goes right up and on the roller.

If the ramp is really steep, the trailer has to be out of the water more because it the floating rear that is keeping the bow down and going under the roller.

Once you find the right spot, things get easier.

Thanks for the responses. I've had a bass boat of my own for almost 15 years. Driven many, loaded many and never had a problem with loading before.

I absolutely love the boat. The ride, performance and storgare are unbelievable.

Getting your bunks wet might help w/ the shallow trailer and power loading.

Welcome and congrats on your boat!
