    1992 faststrike 150 fuel bug

    i have a stratos 1992 285 pro xl w/a fststrk 150 its never ran right since i bought it acouple months ago. when i bought it the boat ran awesome on the flush it still runs great anytime its on the flush but when i get on the lake it will run fine until i get upto 5000rpm it will start to cut out then stall completely if i back peddle it will start running fine 3-4 thousand then when i get going again it does it again i took it to a stratos dealer they said they checked the feul filter when i bought the boat it had been sitting for 3 years but the dealer national boat mart said they had just serviced it and it was serviced regularly the boat and engine are spotless its the nicest 92 around ive had days when it would run fine all day when the stratos dealer took it out they said they had it on the lake for an hour and a half and it ran fine they said i didnt have the tank selector switched all the way over it was in the middle that selector is a pain it doesnt click or lock into place when you select a tank when i got it back from them it ran fine for a day then it started acting upn again i have to pump the feul more than i should it never stays pumped up like the oil tank bulb i changed the bulb on my feul line no help i cant get my boat over 5000rpm even when it runs fine please help!! vj150glenc

    Sounds like fuel restriction to me, I would check the anti-syphon valves at the top of the tank,replace them with regular elbows or knock the balls out of em. Should be two, one for each tank. Had this problem with nephews 150.

    Just fixed a problem like you describe on a 285 Pro XL. It may be a real pain in the butt to fix for you but, you'll need to pull the tanks out, and pull the fuel pickups out of the tank and check the screens on them. Make sure they aren't clogged also pull off the vent hose and let it hang down and see if any fuel comes out of them. The pain in the butt part starts when you have to take the seats out then tear half the boat apart. Those screws get hidden in the carpet .
