Looking for 286 owners to compare numbers. I'm happy with the boat overall, but still issues with speed and chine walk. Everybody says "aww it will get better after driving the boat and getting used to it", but fishing two or three days a week and it ain't no better.

I've had it in different places. It seems to run and ride better the higher I lift the motor. Started out 3 in below pad have moved it as high as 1 in below pad. Rode best at 1 in, but I changed props and am still trying to make some adjustments to it with new prop. Started out with 23 pitch Yamaha Pro Series with motor all the way down until after breakin.(chine walked) Moved motor up to 3 in below pad(chine walked), moved motor up to 2 1/2 in below pad (chine walked, but not as bad). Bought a Power Tech 25, because I was turning 6400 rpm with the 23 (chine walked). Raised motor to 1 in and it seems to do better and picked up about 2 mph. Right now with 25 pitch Power Tech it turns 6000 rpms @ 60.5 mph GPS. I just feel like the boat should be faster than it is and there should be something I could do to help the chine walking. It seems to walk worse when I'm in the boat by myself and that's normally how I fish.
