It's cheap way to make a buck. If a guy wants a 200 on a 19 foot boat the have to get the dolled out 295, or pay extra for magnum rated 294 which is b.s. They should be rate the same by IBA; After all they have the same specs. A guy I know bought a 286 with a 150 they told in order to get the 175 rating he had to get the magnum option i.e. more money for simply a differnt sticker. 300-500 dollars is an expensive sticker. It does not cost them a dime more to put a 150 sticker or a 175 sticker on the boat. So you are paying for something that should already be there. Stuff like this is what makes people question buying a somewhat off brand or new company's boat. They just need to keep it simple and quit trying to break it off in people.
Break it off in people? I dont think so. Where else can you get a fully loaded boat for anywhere NEAR the price of a Bee Line with the same options? One reason for the lower HP rating is price pointing. If they rated them higher on the standard boat, everyone would want the max HP on them, which in turn drives the cost up.
Look either way a guy is paying a extra price for a sticker. Buy 200 rated and put 150 or 175 if that's what you want. Don't charge them for a 200 and the option to have it . Unless I miss understand how this is working. It looks like the same hull alone is more depending on what rating you get. Is this correct? This is what was explaned to me by a dealer and someone I personaly know that has bought a boat in the last 10-11 months.
Unfortunately, someone has not provided you with all the information.
The two boats do have the same hull but the difference in price comes in the standard options.
The reason for having the two boats is because this boat performs really well with a 150 or 175 HP engine. People are not willing (or hesitant) to put the 175 on the 295 because they are afraid they are hurting the boat by not maximizing the HP. By providing the 294, a customer can have a larger boat (19'3") rated for a 175 HP engine that is priced less than most other manufacturers' 18' boats rated for a 150 HP engine.
The price difference:
Port Side Rod Organizer (295)
Lid Assist (295)
Stainless Steel Pull-Up Cleats (295)
Live Well Pump-Out (295)
Live Well Lights (295)
Colored Single Axle Trailer (295) - The 294 is offered as black only
Disc Brakes (295)

I spoke to the bee line people and the difference is the 295 has better floation and can hold a larger motor.
