    Looking at a 04' 2100

    Hi Guys,

I live in NorthEast Pa and don't see many, if any, Gamblers in these parts. I don't know much about them other than they are said to be fast boats. I was wondering if a few experienced Gambler owners would chime in on their ride.

Are there any known problems with this year/model? Is there anything I should look for in particular when checking it over? It seems to be well taken care of and has a brand new Mec 250 pro xs.

This Gambler does have trim tabs, something I know nothing about! Are they a "plus item" for this boat or just another added expense maintainance wise? Never been in a boat with trim tabs and don't know their advantages or disadvantages.

I currently own an older Skeeter 200sx

Asking price is in the 28k range

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks for the info Cruiser.
If things don't work out for me, I'll certainly pass along the number if you are interested.

Anyone else with more to add?

I'd like more information on the trim tabs.

28k is a bit steep for an 2004. NADA says 23K Max. Be sure to find out how many hours are on the engine and possibly have a compression and leakdown test down.
By "brand new engine", do you mean 2011??

    Re: Looking at a 04' 2100 (dartman)

Quite honestly, I don't like how they do business.

I asked for a test ride, not being in a Gambler before and show me how the trim tabs worked and to see if I liked the set up. They told me 100% nonrefundable depost before the boat moves. "Had to do this, that and the other thing to get it ready. That costs us money." I call BULL. Throw in a charged cranking battery and lets go! That doesn't cost what they were asking for!

Oh really? So I'm supposed to give a nonrefundable depost on I boat I don't even know if i'll like? That put a bad taste in my mouth right from the start!

By they way... it was 500 bucks! For a potential test ride only? Give me a break!

The more I think about it, the more upset I get. Not to mention if it is 5k over book, I'm thinkin they can keep it! Or sell it to some other sucker

And if you just happen to be friendly with someone there, you can tell them I said that too!

    I'll find another.

Gamblers are very fine rigs. They're one of the purdiest rigs out there! If u decided to purchase u wouldnt be disappointed. But i wouldnt buy a boat from someone makn it that hard to get a test ride 1st. Imagine the trouble u'd hafta go through if u encountered problems and needed some service done. Im sure its a nice rig but theres plenty of honest sellers with better service.

then just get the serial # on the motor, let DON WEED run the serial and see if its got warranty and how much left...
IF THAT MOTOR HAS 2-3 years of warranty left, THEN IT IS A DEAL.....and i'd have no problem buying it SIGHT UNSEEN....

I love my new gambler. The trim tabs are a friggin sweet add on. Love em. That test drive deposit would be a deal breaker for me. I'd tell em to shove it up their arse.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking BassinFever. If they make it that hard to buy I don't want to see their customer service dept!

    Hey Dartman,

I honestly should have known better. I've been there a few times over the years while looking and have never been impressed with their "gamesmanship" in their deal making.

Sorry things didn't work out in your favor but maybe you're better off in the long run.

Interesting how they "needed" your boat for a few days. I'm certain your trade in value would have dropped once you returned to try and close the deal.

Who operates like that and stays in business?

    Hey Cruiser,

I'm not positive but I'd put a strong wager the Merc is a '10. Could be a VERY early '11 model. Some pictures have a date of dec '10 with the current engine. OR maybe someone did not have their date set on the camera. Not up on when new model years come out with engines.

Dooner, if you ever wanted to meet up and go for ride on the potomac, i'd be glad to take you for a ride in mine. It has the tabs... and the potomac is the best place i can think of off the bat that will let you experience it's rough water capability.

I've been out there for a few days back in '04. The wife and I got caught in wicked rainstorm. Luckily we were already near the Presque Isle inlet but still got hammered while in the bay! The Skeeter did ok!
