Anyone out there running a 225 Pro XS on a Gambler 2200? Wondering if the boat would be severely under powered?

I'd say slightly underpowered as well. The 2200 is a monster of a boat.

Underpowered if you want to run in the 80's but if youre looking for a low-mid 70's boat, i dont think it would be that big of a problem. As for the 2200 being a "Monster" of a boat...it's 50 lbs heavier and 10" longer...not sure if that really qualifies as being much bigger than a 2100. If the deal was decent, and you are looking for a mid 70's boat, i wouldnt fear the 225 vs 250...hell, you'd still be faster than 80% of the other boats out there anyway even with the 225.

Thanks to all the response. My son is looking for a Gambler 2200. There is one listed with a 225...this is why I'm asking. If anyone knows of a 2200 in good to excellent condition for sale please let me know.
I have a 2000 model 2200 with a 225 optimax rigged w/ 4blade prop . Runs around 74-73 , 2 people a tourn load . Only time I feel underpowered when I loaded to the max . 3 normal size people, full tank of gas , both livewells full . Then I do have some issues getting out of the hole but I don't run like that very often.. very satisfied with the ride and power but if I have to repower for some reason in the future I will probably go with a 250![]()
i just spoke to Mike at Gambler and he said there are going to be 4 to five trade in gamblers on the market in the next couple of weeks. He is on the road delivering a Sterling with a non skid deck to South Carolina.
