EZ Troll trolling motor tray in Outlaw

anybody put a trolling motor tray in a 19' outlaw? i just ordered an EZ troll tray and damn if it doesn't look too shallow for it. they recommend it start 13" in front of the front seat pedestal. that only leave 1.5" to the front fiberglass of the boat that has the plugin for the trolling motor. any pictures of trays installed in the gambler outlaw? i just don't to start cutting to find out it is too shallow to put the tray.

What type of tray is that? How deep is it in the front?

Yeah, almost all the boats look too shallow up front. The tray is going to be around 4" deep and the deck of you boat is probably 1 1/2" thick so it is only going t be recessed a few inches below deck. Also place tray where it is comfortable for you. I recommend placing tray as far forward as possible especially on 17' - 19' boats.

You will be glad you did it once its done.

on my buddies 209, when we put his TROLL WELL in back 4 months ago, we went all the way to the front like shown above in the link...
after cutting out the hole, realized it was TOO shallow in the front and had to cut another 1.5" back and slide it back towards the pedistal....
WORKS great, love it for fishing, but now has about a 3/4" gap in the front deck...

It's not gonna work. I took a small drill bit and drilled little pilot holes and stuck a wire down it to measure before I cut a big hole in my deck. They recommend starting the template 13" in front of the pedestal. I'd have to start it 9" in front of the pedestal to have enough depth for the tray. I'm gonna put in a different one that's 4" deep.

Ah man, that sucks, I have never heard that happening before. I would be glad to send necessary fiberglass materials FOC to fill that gap correctly.

Maybe some sort of flat trim piece could be placed there now, I sure wouldn't want an open gap.

I really hate hearing this, I tried to design the Troll Well to look better that the rest.

I always advise to look under there if possible to see whats going on, mostly concerned with wires or deck supports, I will keep note of this issue with the Gamblers.

I wonder if we got the deck gapped filled if there could be some carpeting say from the underside of a lid edge. that could be removed without being outwardly obvious and glued over gap. I know I have shaved fibers off these underside carpet area to fill in cigarette burns and glued them then combed them in to be nearly invisible.

Shoot me an email and I would be glad to throw some fix ideas your way and see what you thought. Sales@trollwell

I am going to take another look at my boat this evening and see what possibilities I can come up with. No matter what it is going to be a pain in the butt, but I bet we can come up with a doable solution.

Gotta love BBC or we may never heard this good info.

well i'd sure be interested in what we could do...
it doesn't look all that bad, but definately not as nice as it could look...
all the troll well needs, is right at the front 3"s is to slope up at about a 35-40 degree angle...it actually would then allow the TM wires to slope in as they do anyways...and maybe make some sort of "SHELF" for the depth finder to sit on....
