    209 Set-up

I just purchased a 98 209 Gambler with a Mariner 3.0 EFI. I'm running a 27P Trophy. The motor is 3 1/4" from boat bottom to motor nosecone. At 75mph the boat is uncontrollable. I have plenty of throttle and up-trim available. This is my 3d bass boat and can usually handle chine-walking without difficulty. Should I raise the motor? The jack plate is all the way up but I have one more hole in the motor bracket that can raise the motor. Thank you for any suggestions.

What's your water pressure, you may need to come up a little.

I'm not sure. It does not have a low water pickup. Water pressure seems to be fine. When the boat seems to get out of control, it feels like it falls to the left and dips about 2 feet over. I don't think that is chine walking. Never had that feeling in any other bass boat I've owned.

Mine will do that if i bring it off the pad at high speed too quickly. Rolls to the left bow goes down and digs in and pulls left.

people will probably not agree with me, but if running wide open i trim my 209 all the way up. if i don't it will walk worse.

Gamblers for sure like a lot of trim. I don't disagree with you but.... If you'll... tap...tap... tap... down trim you'll run a bit quicker. It's not much down... just a tad.

That could explain the rollin' to the left and bow droppin'... not enough trim.

runnin' hot I'd suspect. If so.... check water pressure as you trim out. If it drops... either lower engine or plug some holes in the pick-up.
