    Trailer bearing question?

I am about to buy a 1999 gambler in Florida and have it pulled back to Oklahoma. My question is what are the bearing systems like on these trailers? I think I remember someone saying something about a wet bearing system, but I'm not sure on that. Please let me know what kind of system they have and what is involved in repacking/replacing them. Thanks a ton

You need to get that from the owner. Could have been changed from stock. Some- just grease, pressurized grease, oil bath!

I obviously realize the trailer bearings could have been changed, but I am asking what the stock setup is.

The stock setup should have been a grease hub with bearing buddies. Just bring a grease gun and make sure they are full before the ride. Ask the owner if they were ever cleaned and if not it would be a good idea to do it when you get home. Even though theyare pressurized, its not a bad idea to clean them once in a while for a piece of mind.

I got mine out of Jacksonville last June, it had grease fittings in the cap with a rubber cap over that. Non pressurized, not sealed real good, lucky to get it home with no problems.Tore it down and had water in two of them. Carry some tools just in case.

If you are still going to south florida to pick it up stop by America Trail in St Cloud and buy the complete bearing set. When I did mine last fall I could not find the right bearing or seals for those hubs. I ended up buying them from America Trail directly and it cost about $100 for all the parts. Just a heads up.

i have had 5 hubs explode on my trailer, i have to grease the hubs about every 100 miles, or ythe hub will explode. I've been to a few trailer shops and they cant figure it out. One place will putt a heavier set of stub axles and hubs for 500 bucks.

    Re: (kibble)

I went to a bunch of trouble when i did mine as far as finding the right seals. i ended up going to a camper place and the man told me that the seals are the same as the seals on coachman travel trailers. i put em in and havent had a problem in 2 years so i guess it must have worked ok lol.
