Can anyone list for me the differences between these motors? I currently have a 250HPDI and when I buy a new boat I'm considering the E-tec. Thanks in advance!!

How about, One has been known to blow up, and one has been known to be a great engine. Guess which one blew up?
There is a fine line between \"FISHING\" and just standing in the boat going through the motions!!!![]()
Yamaha High pressure direct Injection still has not figured out the difference between stratefied and Homegeneous combustion. They are always homogeneous and therefore are rougher. On the larger engine Yamaha has to drop a cylinder or 2 to get cleaner emissions. You can really tell this in a very poor idle quality. and if memory serves they are only 2 star emissions.
E-TEC does everything better.
Blown or not, still love the etech, let the warranty take care of you.
Here in Brazil, the HPDI are having rough times with our E-25 gas, the E-tec's are bullet proof with this amount of Ethanol.
Have a nice day![]()

Actually they are both blue. Get up close enough to the Yammie and you'll see it. It's just a darker blue.![]()
