209GE 225 ho etec prop question

Hey guys. Just put a 225 HO Etec on my 95 209. Blew a big hole in the old Johnson 225. I put the 25 Renengade on it from the old motor and at top end just can't seem to lift the bow like I used to. I am getting close to the same top speed of about 73gps but that is trimmed all the way up, I mean all the way up. I'm afraid I'm going to hit the tilt which would make for an interesting ride I'm sure. I have the jackplate all the way up about 3" below pad. Just wandering if anyone has the same setup what props are you running? I think I could get a little more out of it I could get the bow up a little more.

Im running a 97 209 with a 99 Evinrude 225 Ficht. Im at 13in setback. 2 1/2 in below pad and running a 28 Raker1 unmodified. 1/2 tank gas, 2 people, light gear 73mph @ 6100 rpm.

You may need to get the Renegade prop worked, or purchase a "Renegade Bass" prop (if you do not have one already). The Renegade bass props (it will have Bass cast into the side of the prop), has more lift than the older renegade props. I have a GT183 (150 HP Vmax) with a Renegade Bass prop. Get all the lift I need with about 1/2 trim. I can lift the front up very high if I want to (but it is too high to be able to control). You should be able to get the prop worked to give more lift.

Bryon,you should be able to pro that boat light to near or at 80 with that motor.I"am running a 28 Bravo I with the 3/4 inch holes on a 2005-225 ho etec- 96 209 GE.I could drill these holes bigger & get a better holeshot,but it"s pretty good as is.I guide so the boat is not set up for speed & I was giver a lab finished Raker 2 to try.The Bravo I with a ding in the tip, GPS 74.4 @ 5830 rpm"s loaded, other then empty livewells.I put the lab finished prop on & GPS 78.4 but lost 130 rpm"s.This told me that if I had a hydralic plate,I could have come up with the plate & gained a couple of MPH.I use to run a Trophy on my Mariner but I bet a Tempest might do good also.There is more speed there for you to find.

Thanks for the info guys. Getting the propped worked sounds like a plan, it has seen better days anyway. Anyone recomend someone good around my area?

The best is Mark Croxton on this site.Just go back to the forums page & look under Props.I think Mark"s turn around time is 24 hours,is 24 hours after he gets the prop & he is located in IN.
