    RPM and summer humidity

Hey y'all, went to a fairly large lake on Friday to practice for a tournie and to run the old GBoat out since it's been awhile since I've been able to stretch her out. It wasn't hot but was humid. 2 guys, 30 gallons of fuel and all of our gear including my buddie's 30 pound bag in the front compartment along with all my gear in the tackle storage system just in front of the cooler and was only able to run to 79 @ 5950 rpm running a 27 DAH Trophy. Does the summertime humidity and heat really affect these engines that badly? Does anyone run smaller props during the summer months? Was thinking of a 26 DAH Trophy for the summertime. I ran a beat up, unworked 26 when I first got the boat and it kept bumping the limiter, but that was April and the water and air were cold. Anyone run a worked 26 on a 2200/250XB or have any suggestions? The boat ran great and didnt miss a beat but i was a little disappointed I couldnt run past 6000 rpm and I believe these XB's run best around 6200. Thanks for the help...anyone have a worked (Croxton/DAH) 26 they'd like to trade for a 27 DAH? i have 2 27p DAH's now and I'm thinking I might need to come down a pitch for summer.

Yes the Summer heat and Humidity will effect rpms as well as HP.. If I remember correctly Humidity causes about a 14% loss in HP as well does the heat so you could be up close to 30% loss of HP under those conditions.. I run one pitch lower prop in the summer than I do the rest of the year..

Thanks Terry, glad to hear your motor is finally dialed in (I think). I know you love your Bravo but what do you run during the summer months?

down here in florida, almost all of us run different props in the summer...i run about 1 pitch smaller in the summer also...you wont run as fast....but the overall performance will be better....

Looks like I'm gonna need a summertime prop for this rig. If anyone has a 26 Trophy Plus worked by DAH, Mark, or Boger, shoot me an email. I'd be very interested in trading...the 27 I have is an awesome Spring and Fall prop...feel free and email me at jayfaro@yahoo.com or IM me here. i can send over some pics if anyone is interested.
