Not a Gambler question but I'm sure you guys are the ones to ask.

I am thinking of getting a Bobs jackplate for high performance use and I know that just about all you G boat guys have them.

What do you think of them? Do they hold up well for high performance use?

Any drawbacks that you can think of?

Does anyone have one they might want to sell?

How hard are they to control as far as getting the plate in the same spot every time?

I like mine. The gauge is pretty accurate. The only drawback that I have ever heard about Hydro plates is there a little sloppy compared to fixed ones. But that doesnt seem to stop some guys with faster boats that Gamblers from buying them.

I like mine real well they are dependable and fairly accurate with the LED dial.. The only thing I don't like is the small amount of movement you have when running fast on choppy water.. That is somthing that I didn't notice as much with a fixed plate..

Bob's makes the best hydraulic plate on the market in my oppinion. My new Allison came with a CMC hydraulic pate and I have to replace the actuator after 8 hours!

I've never had a failure or issue with a Bob's hyd plate

Bob's all the way. No problems with the two I had. Now the CMC plate I had sucked. I had it for 3 years and had to replace the bushings twice, re-glue the maganets in the motor, and the side plates were wallowed out. The CMC plate was on a Gambler 183 with a Johnson 175 GT. I would not trust the CMC plate with a 250 hp motor.

I'm down to crunch time now, it's between the Bob's 10" and the CMC 10"

Can anyone of you G boys give me a ride and let me see first hand how the plate performs? I can swing the gas and munchies. I'm not interested in fishing but if you insist I'll bring a rod.

Right now the Bob's has the edge just because the first CMC plate I owned was a piece of crap. But I need to see for myself before I drop a grand on a toy.

Hey Al, I know you offered in the past but I don't think I can make it that far north. Just to cold this time of year and your water is just too hard. LOL

I'm about 4 hours south of Al...however, we have 2' of snow and 10" of ice! Sorry but good luck with your decision. I have a 10" Bob's but since this is my first hydraulic plate, I wouldn't know a good one it if were sitting on my face...or on the back of my Gambler.

If you want to come across the Alley, I can plan on meeting you at Holiday Park and give you a ride. I have a club tourny on the alley next weekend I need to pre fish anyway.

Neveredge, if you want to run up Interstate 95 to the Palatka area, I can take you for a test run. Have a G boat with a 250XB mounted to a CMC 10" hydro jackplate. I incorporated the Bob's LED guage to the jackplate. Been running this set up for over a year. Never had any problems with the CMC.

And let me know when you get here, cause I got a Bob's on my Bullet and you can compare the two plates side by side.

If I'm remembering correctly, Todd at C&O Marine has had all kinds of problems with CMC jackplates and none with Bob's. You might want to check with him.
I've never had any problems with my Bob's jackplate.
